The CIO Modernization and Enterprise Transformation (or “COMET”…for those of us who love a good acronym…) released 12 big winners in its RFQ to transform the inner workings of the federal government.
The winners according to FCW were:

- Karsun Solutions
- Octo Consulting Group
- REI Systems
- Sevatec
- Techflow
- Unisys Corporation
- Vencore (dba Perspecta)
And we are positive that they were delighted to receive the work, which some estimates place the value of more than $240 million in task orders, on top of the $232 million already awarded to some of those organizations.
The GSA was looking for nearly all-things I.T., including Cloud Computing, architecture, hardware, networking, support, operations, maintenance, strategy, engineering…the works. This even included an overhaul to the contract writing system used by the GSA, known as CALM.
As far as government procurement in technology, this is all peanuts next to the $2.7 billion APKWS II contract awarded for military strikes by the Department of Defense. But still reflects the rhythms of the conclusion of the government fiscal year, and the fever pitch that the RFQ season brings.
As Q4 starts up, subcontractors and manufacturers will be working overtime to satisfy the needs of these and thousands of other vendors who are looking to score quick points with their governmental clients.
